The Oklahoma Sooners fell to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in SEC play after their 41-13 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in Athens. It was another disappointing offensive performance for the Sooners, who struggled to move the ball and had four turnovers.
The Sooners offense hasn't been able to maintain year-to-year consistency and it's been below average since joining the SEC. Injuries were the issue in 2024. John Mateer's thumb was a problem in 2025. In 2026, however, there's not really anything to point at other than execution.
The Sooners can't run the ball, and they can't protect the ball. The offensive line is struggling to move people on the line of scrimmage and open up holes for the Sooners' running backs. That puts a lot
on Mateer to carry the offense. And he's just not capable of playing that way right now.
