There wasn’t much that went right for the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 2.
But as the Sooners took a 17-10 road loss to the Michigan Wolverines, there was a bright spot in the play. Oklahoma punter Grayson Miller was named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week for his booming kicks, the Augusta Sports Council and Gay Guy Award announced on Tuesday.
Miller averaged 48.6 yards per punt in the contest. In total, he legged five punts for 243 yards, with no touchbacks or returns. Among the five, three of his punts went longer than 50 yards – his longest went 62 yards. Three of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard line, including his longest, which pinned Michigan at its own 1-yard line. His punts on Saturday went for 40, 51, 52, 38 and 62 yards.

Miller is an in-state talent out of Edmond, Okla. He played at Deer Creek High School, helping the Antlers to a Class 6A-II state championship appearance in 2021 as a senior. He handled the kickoff, field goal, punting and PAT duties. He then began his college career at Lubbock Christian, where he played soccer. But when a football opportunity came from the University of Central Oklahoma, he jumped at it and joined the Bronchos. Earning back-to-back conference All-MIAA second-team selections and helping UCO to an MIAA Championship, he entered the portal.
He committed to Oklahoma in 2025. Now a fifth-year player, Miller is averaging 47.8 yards per punt on six punts this season. Three of those punts went longer than 50 yards. Last year, he set a single-season school record with 24 punts of 50 yards or more.
It’s his second career Ray Guy Award. He also earned the recognition on Oct. 28, 2025, after averaging 50.8 yards per punt on four punts against Ole Miss last season.
