The Oklahoma Sooners have earned their first commitment in over two months, and it’s from an in-state talent.
Rival’s Hayes Fawcett reports 2028 four-star tight end Connor Arant has committed to Oklahoma. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect from Bixby (Okla.) chose Oklahoma over Alabama, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and many others. A big win for new Oklahoma tight end coach Jason Witten and Brent Venables.
Rivals rates Arant as the No. 315 overall prospect in the class, the No. 15 tight end in the 2028 cycle, and the No. 3 player in Oklahoma. Per 247Sports, he’s the No. 219 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 12 tight end in the class, and the No. 4 overall player in the Sooner state. He is unranked in ESPN’s metrics, but checks
in as a three-star recruit.

Arant plays both tight end and defensive line for the Spartans. In two games this season, he has one touchdown and 12 tackles. Last season as a sophomore, he caught seven passes for 129 yards and six touchdowns and finished with 23 total tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble. His efforts helped Bixby secure another Class 6A-I state championship.
He becomes the second commitment for the Sooners in the 2028 cycle, joining four-star quarterback Trey Tagliaferri, who’s rated as a top 15 passer by multiple recruiting sites. Arant also joins fellow Bixby teammate Kaeden Penny as Oklahoma pledges. Penny is a part of the 2027 cycle and is the No. 3 overall offensive tackle in the class.
