The Oklahoma Sooners and the Georgia Bulldogs will square off on Saturday in Athens. After both teams released an initial SEC availability report on Wednesday, that report was updated on Thursday with minimal changes.
OU will be without wide receivers Trell Harris and Jer'Michael Carter, offensive lineman Michael Fasusi, linebackers Cole Sullivan and Taylor Heim, and defensive back Michael Boganowski against the Bulldogs. All six players are listed as out. Defensive lineman David Stone is listed as questionable, while linebacker Kip Lewis is listed as probable.
Harris is expected to miss significant time after a serious injury in the Michigan loss, while Carter's status changed from questionable to out on Thursday. With both sidelined, the Sooners
will look to players like Elijah Thomas, Mackenzie Alleyne, and Parker Livingstone to step up alongside Isaiah Sategna III at WR.
Fasusi might be the biggest injury loss, as he's OU's best offensive lineman and the starting left tackle when healthy. That means from left to right the likely starting lineup for the Sooners is Ryan Fodje, Eddy Pierre-Louis, Jake Maikkula, Noah Best, and E'Marion Harris. That's been the combination for the last two games, although Heath Ozaeta played most of the New Mexico game at right guard while Best was dealing with an injury. It looks like Best is good to go this week.
Stone's status looks like the biggest question mark this week. If he can go, the Sooners will get a big piece back at defensive tackle alongside Jayden Jackson. If he can't play, it'll be up to Bishop Thomas, Trent Wilson, Nigel Smith III, James Carrington, Danny Saili, and Braxton Fely to fill that void against Georgia.
Sullivan is another tough loss in the OU linebacker room, but Lewis' status is encouraging after he was hurt in the Michigan game. He's on track to play, which would take a lot of pressure off of Owen Heinecke and James Nesta. However, the Sooners still won't have their full LB room available in this game. No Sullivan also means that it'll likely be Reggie Powers III who will again take most of the snaps at Cheetah. The injury to Heim happened in spring ball, and he has yet to play this season.
Boganowski being out again means another start for Omarion Robinson at free safety alongside strong safety Peyton Bowen. It also means that young players like Niko Jandreau and Markel Ford may end up playing big roles against the Bulldogs.
For the Bulldogs, offensive lineman Marcus Harrison, outside linebackers Chase Linton and Amaris Williams, and safety Tyriq Green will not be available against the Sooners. Those four players are listed as out. Williams was not on Wednesday's report, but he won't play this weekend. Star running back Nate Frazier, along with wide receiver Isiah Cannon and defensive back Justice Fitzpatrick all still have a questionable designation.
