Patty Gasso and Oklahoma Sooners softball continue to add top prospects to the 2028 class.
2028 four-star infielder Gia Ryan announced her commitment to Oklahoma on Monday via social media. According to Softball America, Ryan is the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2028 class. The publication also ranks her as the No. 6 middle infielder and the No. 5-ranked player in the state of California.
Ryan plays club softball with Warrior Academy, located in the Bay Area. She’s a utility player who plays shortstop and second base. She bats left-handed and can routinely hit for extra bases. She adds versatility to a class that’s already shaping up to be one of the best in college softball.

Ryan is now the third prospect and top-40 player to commit to Oklahoma’s 2028 class. She joins No. 1-ranked pitcher and No. 3 overall recruit Sophia Schlader and No. 41-ranked Braylyn Saenz, a talented in-state prospect who can play all infield positions.
Oklahoma is coming off back-to-back seasons as the defending SEC Regular Season Champions and as 2025 SEC Tournament Co-Champions. The Sooners have posted a 37-11 conference record in two seasons in the league.
