The Oklahoma Sooners were hoping for some good news as they head to Athens to take on No. 2 Georgia in the SEC opener on Saturday.
Oklahoma has already been riddled with injuries to key players throughout the early part of this season. However, the initial SEC injury report released Wednesday night isn't putting anyone's mind at ease.
The first availability report included key players such as linebacker Kip Lewis, left tackle Michael Fasusi and defensive tackle David Stone.
Starting with the big-picture positive news, Stone is listed as questionable on the report. He hurt his knee during a practice this week and had to get an MRI to learn the severity. Venables said at his weekly press conference on Tuesday that Stone received good news about his knee and that Stone's
pain level was 2 out of 10. – Though it isn’t a given that he’ll play this week, it appears Stone could be back sometime this season.
The devastating news, however, is that Fasusi, OU's left tackle,has already been ruled out. Fasusi is Oklahoma's best offensive lineman and has been out for the past two games after injuring his shoulder against UTEP in Week 1.
