The Oklahoma Sooners are off to a strong start in their 2028 recruiting class, with four pledges already in the boat. That goes along with OU's 27 current commitments in the 2027 recruiting class. However, a one-time member of Oklahoma's 2028 haul has found a new home in his recruiting process.
Micah Rhodes is one of the top running backs in the '28 class, and he pledged to the Sooners back in January. However, he later decommitted in April, after the Sooners went through a change on the coaching staff. DeMarco Murray left to coach on the Kansas City Chiefs, and OU brought in Deland McCullough to replace him, but they lost Rhodes' pledge in the process.
Hailing from Spring, Texas, and checking in at 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, Rhodes committed to
the rival Texas Longhorns on Thursday, just two days before the annual Red River Rivalry clash. The Klein Oak High School product is a four-star prospect and the No. 12 running back in the 2028 class, according to 247Sports Composite.

Oklahoma's four current pledges in 2028 are quarterback Trey Tagliaferri, wide receiver Colton Fitzgibbon, tight end Connor Arant, and linebacker Jay Schell. The Sooners had hoped to eventually re-add Rhodes to that group, but they'll instead compete against him each year in October.
OU has already seen four players decommit from the 2027 class, and all four have since committed to new schools. However, that 2027 group is 27 players deep and currently ranks fifth in the country, according to 247Sports Composite.
