The Oklahoma Sooners know this upcoming season will come down to whether the offense has made big enough strides to take the team from a College Football Playoff contender to a national championship contender. To do that, they had to add more playmakers in the transfer portal.
The Sooners did just that, adding Texas Longhorns wide receiver Parker Livingstone and Virginia Cavaliers wide receiver Trell Harris. Both are expected to be immediate contenders this season. Harris was one of the best wide receivers in the ACC last season, grabbing 59 passes for 847 yards and five touchdowns. However, he's been limited this offseason recovering from an offseason procedure on his lower body.
Wide receiver coach Emmett Jones gave an update on Harris' availability
during the Sooners' media day on Tuesday.
“Still wait and see," Jones said via AllSooners SI's Brady Trantham on X. "He had some things this summer that kind of set him back a little bit. Minor. You’ll probably see him out there running routes. If he's not with us, but with the trainers. A couple of other guys probably will be over there, too. Their roles will increase as the days pass. But there's no concern, no worry at all about Trell Harris."

Harris' health will be something to monitor as Oklahoma begins preparing for the season, but the Sooners appear confident that he will be ready when it matters most. His ability to create explosive plays could be exactly what the offense lacked last season.
With Harris, Livingstone and returning receiver Isaiah Sategna giving John Mateer a deeper group of weapons, Oklahoma has the opportunity to take a major step forward offensively. If those additions can make an immediate impact, the Sooners could have the balance needed to complement Brent Venables' elite defense and make a legitimate run at a national championship.
