The Oklahoma Sooners are getting ready for their first game against the Florida Gators in "The Swamp." The Sooners are looking for a bounceback performance after their 42-25 letdown against the South Carolina Gamecocks in Norman a week ago.
To find a spark in the offense, the Sooners moved on from Ben Arbuckle and handed the reins to tight ends coach and future NFL Hall of Famer Jason Witten. Witten will be calling the plays for the first time at the collegiate level after a successful run leading the way for Liberty Christian, a high school program in North Texas.
Witten and the Sooners offense have an opportunity to hit the ground running against a Florida defense that ranks No. 14 in the SEC in scoring defense and No. 13 in total yards allowed
this season.
But Oklahoma needs a better performance from a defense that allowed over 500 yards and 40 points last week to the Gamecocks. If Brent Venables' crew can play a better four quarters this week, the Sooners will have a shot to come away with a win on the road.
