The Oklahoma Sooners have put together one of the best recruiting classes in the country in 2027. Now, the recruiting staff, led by general manager Jim Nagy, is looking ahead to the 2028 class.
One thing is clear: the Sooners want to continue to build on the offensive line. The Sooners possess one of the best offensive line recruiting classes in the country for 2027, but offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh knows it is going to take multiple classes to have the sustainability and depth he's looking for.
One player they are pursuing is four-star Koehn Dial. The Tennessee native is ranked as a top 80 prospect and the No. 10 offensive tackle in the country. Rivals recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong feels Oklahoma is in a good place, but will have to fight
off two historic programs.
"He's got Oklahoma in his lead group with the likes of Ohio State and Georgia," Wiltfong said via the "Wiltfong Whiparound for Rivals on YouTube. "He's going to be back on campus this weekend. He loves the old-school philosophy of the program, the way they develop the position and his relationship with coach Bill Bedenbaugh."
Oklahoma's approach to offensive line recruiting is about more than simply signing highly rated prospects. The Sooners want to build sustained depth across multiple classes, which is particularly important in the modern college football landscape.
Bedenbaugh's reputation could be one of the program's biggest selling points as Oklahoma competes against schools such as Ohio State and Georgia. With Dial already considering Oklahoma part of his lead group and another campus visit coming up, the Sooners have put themselves in an excellent early position.
There is still plenty of time before the 2028 recruiting cycle reaches its conclusion, but keeping Dial away from two of the nation's premier programs would be another major win for Nagy and Bedenbaugh.
