The Carolina Panthers closed up their expanded preseason slate on Friday, with a 16-13 win over the Houston Texans. They'll now exit the summer with a 3-1 record as they prep for their first NFC South title defense in a decade.
But from an individual standpoint, which players left their summers behind on a high note?
Here are the best and worst Pro Football Focus grades from the victory . . .

Best of the offense
1. RG Ja'Tyre Carter: 79.7
2. WR Jimmy Horn Jr.: 75.4
3. WR David Moore: 75.0
4. TE Caden Prieskorn: 72.3
5. TE James Mitchell: 70.0
Carter finished in the green for both pass blocking (80.6) and run blocking (76.1). He allowed zero pressures over 24 chances.
Moore reeled in three passes,
all first downs, for 34 yards.
Worst of the offense
22. RT Albert Reese: 52.5
23. WR Brycen Tremayne: 51.9
24. C Sam Hecht: 51.7
25. WR John Metchie III: 51.6
26. RB Miles Davis: 47.3
Reese was charged with a team-high four pressures. No other Panthers player had more than one.
Metchie, who came in as Carolina's leading receiver in the preseason, recorded one catch for five yards over three targets.
Best of the defense
1. ILB Trevin Wallace: 91.7
1. CB Robert Rochell: 91.7
3. OLB Trevis Gipson: 91.3
4. DT Elijah Garcia: 87.4
5. ILB Claudin Cherelus: 82.5
Wallace and Gipson both picked up a sack on the game's opening drive. Gipson, who tallied two pressures, received the highest pass-rushing grade for Carolina at 91.8.
Garcia also picked up a pair of pressures, as well as three stops.
Worst of the defense
23. CB Corey Thornton: 54.2
24. CB DeCarlos Nicholson: 54.0
25. OLB Isaiah Smith: 53.6
26. S Isaiah Simmons: 53.3
27. DT Aaron Hall: 47.5
Thornton was given the second-lowest coverage grade on the unit at 52.6. He allowed an 11-yard reception on the only ball that went his way.
