After an early bye week, the Carolina Panthers will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they visit the free-falling Philadelphia Eagles. The last time these two teams met, in 2024, the Panthers came extremely close to pulling off an upset—but a late drop by wide receiver Xavier Legette snatched a defeat from the jaws of victory.
Now, Legette is on injured reserve—and the Panthers will be able to ride their top receiver duo of Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker, who had to sit out the team's last game with a quad injury. Despite the quad, Coker is considered a solid fantasy football option.
He's been named to Matt Okada's 'start 'em' list at wide receiver for this week over on NFL.com:
We haven’t seen Coker play a full game since Week 2, but
in those first two contests, he totaled 48.4 fantasy points. Among wideouts with 20-plus targets this season, Coker’s 2.7 yards per route run ranks 10th and his 18.9% catch rate over expected is third. Oh, and Philly has allowed a league-high 134.4 fantasy points to wide receivers since Week 3.
When he's in the slot on Sunday, Coker will likely be facing do-it-all defensive back Cooper DeJean—which should be one of the best matchups of the day. And when he's outside, it could be former first-round pick Quinyon Mitchell lining up opposite of him.
As far as Coker's status for Week 6 goes, back-to-back full practices on Wednesday and Thursday should bode well for his chances.
