The Carolina Panthers may be preparing to be without their top pass catcher on Sunday evening.
Wideout Jalen Coker has been ruled questionable for tonight's matchup against the Detroit Lions due to a quad injury. The third-year receiver was estimated as a non-participant at Wednesday's walk-through, then finished out the week as a limited participant on Thursday and Friday.
Entering the weekend, head coach Dave Canales told reporters that Coker's Week 4 status might hinge on how he would look on Saturday.
"We'd like to push it as far as possible," he stated of Coker's outlook on Friday. "And that was kinda the point of getting the kinda condensed work to move him around. We don't wanna overload him on any single day, but wanted to see if we could
push him just a little bit more.
"So we'll move him around again tomorrow, and then see what it's like on game day."
Canales also added that the team would elevate second-year receiver Ja'seem Reed from the practice squad if they remained unsure about Coker's availability. They did precisely that on Saturday afternoon, calling up Reed and cornerback Robert Rochell for the contest.
