The Carolina Panthers will be without the reigning NFC Defensive Player of Week on Sunday.
Inside linebacker Devin Lloyd has been ruled out of this weekend's matchup against the Cleveland Browns due to a calf injury. The fifth-year defender was a non-participant at pratice for a third straight session on Friday.
Lloyd—in Carolina's dominant Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons—became the first player in NFL history to record at least eight tackles, a sack, two interceptions and an interception return for a touchdown in a game. He leads the Panthers with 22 combined tackles through their two outings.
With Lloyd down, late-offseason additions Bobby Okereke and Tyrel Dodson are expected to start in the middle of the defense.
Starting safety Nick Scott
(rib) and inside linebacker Claudin Cherelus (shoulder) have also been ruled out.
