A former Carolina Panthers quarterback had his latest stint cut short on Friday.
According to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, the Philadelphia Eagles are releasing Andy Dalton. The 38-year-old veteran spent his previous three seasons as a member of the Panthers.
Dalton came over to Carolina on a two-year deal ahead of the 2023 campaign. He'd go on make seven starts over 13 games with the team—completing 64.7 percent of his throws for 1,643 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
After signing free agent Kenny Pickett to back up starter Bryce Young this past spring, the Panthers traded Dalton to the Eagles in exchange for a 2027 seventh-round pick. Dalton's lone appearance for Philadelphia this season came on one drive in place of an injured
Jalen Hurts. He threw an interception on his only pass in the Eagles' Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears.
