Going into their Week 4 contest against the Detroit Lions, it had been 10 years since the Carolina Panthers were featured on Sunday Night Football. And it was the kind of game that the Panthers usually lose—but they managed to hang on and hold off a late rally to come out on top with a 32-26 win.
Carolina's triumphant return to a prime-time audience was not just a major breakthrough for their offense and quarterback Bryce Young—as it proved that they, as a whole, are finally ready to beat the best competition the NFC has to offer on a big stage.
Here's star defensive tackle Derrick Brown on what the statement win means for the Panthers . . .

The offense did most of the work, but Brown did have his moments—including a few key pass deflections on Lions quarterback Jared Goff. The true standout on this side of the ball was inside linebacker Devin Lloyd, who defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero has unleashed in a variety of ways. If the rest of the defense can level up, there's no telling how far this team could go.
Carolina has two more prime-time games on the schedule this year. They'll visit the Green Bay Packers on a Thursday night in Week 8, then the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a Monday night in Week 12.
