To avoid putting themselves in yet another 0-2 hole to start the campaign, Carolina Panthers needed a bounce-back performance after their wild Week 1 loss to Chicago Bears. Well, they bounced all the way back, it seems.
Here's everything we know from the Panthers' Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons . . .
Final score
Panthers 34, Falcons 3
Keys to the game
- Panthers quarterback Bryce Young picked up where he left off in Week 1, completing 22 of his 36 throws for 287 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those scores found the hands of tight end Darren Waller.
- Carolina's defense didn't pick up where they left off in Week 1, holding Atlanta to just three points and 286 yards of total offense. The unit amassed five takeaways (six if you count a turnover on downs) and a pair of sacks.
It was over when . . .
Already up 27-3 with less than three minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Panthers got their second interception out of the day from linebacker Devin Lloyd. Lloyd, who chalked up his first pick on the series prior, brought this takeaway back for a 16-yard score to extend the lead to 34-3.
Players of the game
- ILB Devin Lloyd: Nine tackles, 1.0 sack, two interceptions (one touchdown)
- QB Bryce Young: 22-of-36, 287 yards, three touchdowns
- WR Tetairoa McMillan: five receptions, 101 yards
What's next?
The Panthers (1-1) will be back on the road to take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 3.
