The Carolina Panthers cut ties with wideout Jimmy Horn Jr. on Tuesday, just one year after selecting him in the sixth round of the NFL draft. Horn did make a couple of notable mistakes in the Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears, but the move came as a surprise given how promising he's looked as a return specialist and gadget weapon on offense.
In any case, it didn't take long for Horn to find a new home.
As announced on Friday, the second-year receiver has signed on as a member of the Cleveland Browns' practice squad.
Cleveland's 2026 campaign got off to a rough start, as they were manhandled by the Jacksonville Jaguars in a 34-10 loss this past weekend. Quarterback Deshaun Watson struggled, throwing for just 205 yards, one touchdown and an interception.
As to where Horn fits in, it's a bit early to say—and he'll need to be elevated to the active roster before we find out. But, at the very least, he gets to reunite with quarterback Shedeur Sanders—his friend and teammate from the University of Colorado Boulder.
The Panthers will be visiting the Browns in Week 3, after they face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
