While the outlook appears rather bleak, the Carolina Panthers are still in wait-and-see mode on cornerback Jaycee Horn.
Multiple reports on Monday have indicated that Horn sustained a quad tear in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Cleveland Browns
. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the two-time Pro Bowl defender is likely headed to injured reserve and could miss the remainder of the 2026 season.Head coach Dave Canales addressed the situation at the start of his presser this afternoon.
"I won't get into specifics because we're still getting second and third opinions and we'll figure out what that timeline looks like. That'll determine everything for us," Canales stated. "But I will say it's a significant quad injury, and we'll just take
all that information and make that decision as we get it."
Horn sustained the injury late in the fourth quarter, on the Browns' go-ahead touchdown reception by tight end Harold Fannin Jr.
Canales detailed what he believes happened on the play.
"I think it was just a change-of-direction thing," he said. "And also, just kind of a freak fatigue type of deal. It was a long drive."
Horn went down away from the play, in the left side of the end zone. That game-winning drive lasted for eight plays and 65 yards.
