The Carolina Panthers made a bit of an adjustment to their practice squad on Monday.
As announced this afternoon, the team has signed defensive tackle Keith Cooper Jr. to the group. The 23-year-old was released from the Miami Dolphins' practice squad this past Thursday.
A Houston, Texas native, Cooper split his four-year collegiate career between Tulane University (2021 to 2023) and the University of Houston (2024). In his final campaign as a Cougar, he posted 46 combined tackles (8.5 for a loss), 3.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and three passes defensed en route to a second-team All-Big 12 selection.
Cooper then cracked into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions in 2025. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder also went on to pick up a stint
with the Cleveland Browns before joining Miami in 2026.
To make room for Cooper on the practice squad, the Panthers released fellow defensive lineman Anthony Goodlow.
