The Carolina Panthers just cleared up a little room on the shelf.
Per the league transaction wire, the Panthers have waived linebacker and valued special teams presence Claudin Cherelus from injured reserve. Carolina and the fourth-year defender reached an injury settlement upon the departure.
Cherelus, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2023, has played all four of his NFL campaigns with the Panthers—totaling 61 combined tackles and six starts over 35 career games. He appeared in two contests this season before injuring his shoulder during the team's Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
During the summer, Cherelus competed against 2024 third-round pick Trevin Wallace for the second of two starting jobs at inside linebacker. Neither,
as it turned out, would win the competition—as the Panthers waived Wallace at the end of the summer and eventually signed veteran Bobby Okereke to start alongside Pro Bowler Devin Lloyd.
