The Carolina Panthers will have to dig deep at the cornerback position here in Week 8.
According to league insider James Palmer, the Panthers are expected to start cornerback Marco Wilson in tonight's matchup against the Green Bay Packers. The sixth-year veteran is currently a member of the team's practice squad, and would have to be elevated to the active roster prior to kickoff.
Wilson signed with Carolina a little over three weeks ago. The former fourth-round pick made 37 starts over 43 games with the Arizona Cardinals from 2021 to 2023—amassing 158 combined tackles, three interceptions, an interception return for a touchdown and three forced fumbles.
With usual starting corners Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson still on injured reserve and one of
their backups in Akayleb Evans ruled out, Wilson would slot in alongside 2026 fourth-round pick Will Lee III on the outside.
