Carolina Panthers wideout Jalen Coker seems to be in line to suit up for Sunday's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
While chatting with reporters from his locker on Monday, Coker was sporting a boot on his left foot fresh off this past weekend's regular-season opener. The third-year receiver stated that he injured his ankle and that the boot was more of a precautionary measure than anything.
The Panthers continued to take it easy with Coker here at the start of Week 2. Now boot-less, the 24-year-old stayed off to the side with trainers and was listed as a limited participant for this afternoon's practice.
Head coach Dave Canales offered up an encouraging outlook on Coker following the session.
"Yeah, I'm confident," Canales stated. "We'll ramp
him up a little bit. He was able to do a little something in team today, had an extended warmup on the side, got him going, he's been getting treated. We were able to get him out there for a couple of snaps, just on some things that we're looking for, for him to be able to execute.
"The hope is to ramp that up a little bit more tomorrow and then cut him loose Friday. So I expect him to play on Sunday."
Coker was the leading pass catcher in Week 1's 59-37 loss to the Chicago Bears. He amassed a career-high 138 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns on eight grabs.
