Although the 2026 Carolina Panthers are far from perfect, it's difficult not to feel encouraged by their overall progress. And quarterback Bryce Young, more than any other player, is the poster child for the team's ongoing ascension.
Through two games, the Panthers are tied with the Baltimore Ravens for the fourth-most yards per contest and are second only to the Buffalo Bills in scoring. Young has been driving this hot offensive train, and took it right through Atlanta in Week 2—leading Carolina to a 34-3 win over the Falcons.
For his efforts this past Sunday, he earned an 'A' grade from Brent Sobleski at Bleacher Report. Sobleski wrties:
The comparison may have been considered lofty when making reference to a four-time NFL MVP. Young didn't disappoint
when the two teams met Sunday. The 2023 No. 1 overall draft pick threw for 287 yards and a three touchdowns. He threw three scoring passes in back-to-back games, which is a career-first. Head coach/play-caller Dave Canales is doing an excellent job of directing an offense to make Young comfortable by highlighting the quarterback's strengths. The individual still has to deliver, though. Young has.
Heading into Week 3, Young ranks second in passing yards (648) and is in the top five in some of the most important categories. He has also only turned the ball over once, on an interception in Week 1 that was not really his fault.
Three touchdowns a game will be hard to maintain—but if Young continues playing really well, he's going to have a very strong case to win the Most Improved Player of the Year award . . . at the least.
