If you haven't already, and are still even able to, you may want to buy some Jalen Coker stock for your fantasy football teams.
Going into Week 7, ESPN's Matt Bowen has named six surging players who fantasy owners should believe in. Bowen includes Coker, citing the third-year wideout's strong fit in the Carolina Panthers' system:
The route tree in Carolina also works in Coker's favor. He's a three-level guy at 6-foot-3, 213 pounds who can press the seams and run deep corner routes, posts and comebacks. He can catch and run on crossers, too. And the Panthers created an explosive play for Coker in Week 6 on an option route from a backfield alignment. They find ways to get him the ball.
As the No. 2 receiver opposite Tetairoa McMillan, Coker is seeing
consistent volume, and his big-play ability increases his upside. With his upcoming schedule (TB, @GB, DEN, NO), I would lock in Coker as a fantasy starter. This is a good football team in Carolina.
Before the Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns, where he left about halfway through due to a quad issue, Coker was the team's leading pass catcher through two weeks—with 204 yards and two touchdowns on 16 grabs. In his first game back from the injury, the Week 6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, he posted a game-high 97 receiving yards on a career-high 13 targets.
Today, Coker and company will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers—who have fielded the league's 19th-ranked passing defense (224.0 passing yards per game).
