The Carolina Panthers went into the regular season a bit thin along their edge rotation, having lost starter Nic Scourton to a season-ending knee injury early on at training camp. Today, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they're going to be even thinner.
As announced on Friday, Jaelan Phillips will not suit up due to a hamstring injury—one he re-aggravated in last week's win over the Philadelphia Eagels. The unit will also be without backup outside linebacker and special teams ace Thomas Incoom, who was placed on injured reserve with a calf issue on Saturday.
To recoup some depth, the Panthers activated inside linebacker Bam Martin-Scott to the roster and elevated outside linebacker Nick Hampton from the practice squad.
As for the Buccaneers, starting
quarterback Baker Mayfield was listed as questionable with the thumb injury that's sidelined him the last few weeks—but is back in the lineup.
