A very important season for one of the Carolina Panthers' recent first-round picks has come to a pause.
As announced on Saturday afternoon, the team has placed wideout Xavier Legette on injured reserve. The third-year receiver sustained a knee injury on his 55-yard catch in the Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Legette was sidelined from Carolina's Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He was then ruled out of tomorrow night's matchup against the Detroit Lions after being listed as a non-participant in practice throughout the week.
The Panthers selected Legette in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He's gone on to amass just 86 receptions for 924 yards and seven touchdowns in 33 career games.
Since he was drafted, Legette has been surpassed
in the pecking order by 2025 first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan and 2024 undrafted free-agent signee Jalen Coker. 2026, as noted by Legette himself, may very well present a do-or-die campaign in his case.
His placement on injured reserve will now keep him out for at least the next four weeks.
