The Carolina Panthers have officially gotten started with the crackdown to their initial 53-man roster.
As announced on Saturday afternoon, the team has parted ways with eight players.
Running back Miles Davis, wide receivers Elijah Cooks and Roc Taylor, tight end Caden Prieskorn and defensive tackles Kyon Barrs and Tywone Malone have been waived.
Davis was the team's second-leading rusher during the preseason. Over four games, the rookie rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries—with the score coming in last night's win over the Houston Texans.
Offensive tackle Ryan Hayes, who was injured during Wednesday's joint practice with the Houston Texans, was waived-injured.
Additionally, wide receiver Dan Chisena—who has been on injured reserve
since late July—was released with an injury settlement.
Carolina, and the rest of the NFL's 31 teams, will have until 6:00 p.m. ET on Sunday to get down to 53 players.
