The Carolina Panthers may not have lost their two starting cornerbacks for the season, but they will have to wait a while to see if they can get them back.
On Wednesday, the team placed Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson on injured reserve—sidelining the standout duo for at least the next four weeks. Horn, in Carolina's Week 3 loss
to the Cleveland Browns, sustained a "significant" quad tear while Jackson went down with a groin injury.Unfortunately, the two will be out for quite a bit longer than that four-week minimum—as noted by head coach Dave Canales following today's practice.
"Neither of them are out for the season," Canales told reporters this afternoon. "I'll give you kinda a rough timeline—it's like eight-ish weeks, give or take. Could be sooner,
could be longer. So it's a big swing there depending on how the return-to-play process goes with both guys."
Canales later added that Jackson underwent a successful surgery on Tuesday. Horn, meanwhile, will not undergo a procedure and entered right into rehab.
With Horn and Jackson out, the Panthers are expected—at least for the time being—to start 2026 fourth-round pick Will Lee III and Akayleb Evans in their places.
