Taylor Moton is officially back on the shelf.
As announced on Monday, the Carolina Panthers have placed Moton on injured reserve. The 10th-year offensive lineman sustained a broken fibula in yesterday's 43-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Head coach Dave Canales told reporters after the game that the team expects Moton to be out for a while.
"It was the fibula. There is a fracture there," Canales stated. "We'll have to get the full run-up to be able to give you the extent of the whole thing.
"But it was just sick for T-Mo. Working his way back, getting out there. Just kinda an end-of-the-play thing, guys just rolled up on him unexpectedly at that moment."
Moton, who missed the first four games of the season while recovering from blood clots,
had just returned the week prior.
To fill Moton's vacancy on the active roster, the Panthers have signed outside linebacker Nick Hampton—who was elevated from the practice squad this past weekend. Carolina also signed linebacker Ja'Markis Weston to take Hampton's spot on the practice squad.
