The Carolina Panthers still have yet to give a full green light to running back Jonathon Brooks this week.
Brooks, like he was on Wednesday, was listed as a limited participant for this afternoon's practice. The third-year back, who appeared in just three regular-season games between 2024 and 2025 due to a pair of ACL tears, is currently dealing with groin soreness.
Head coach Dave Canales gave a bit of insight into the setback yesterday.
"He looked good today," Canales told reporters. "He's got a little bit of soreness in his groin—so we were aware of that and started treating it. And then, he went out there, went through the full individuals, took selective reps throughout the practice. So it wouldn't have been his full normal load of a practice. But
pretty much, he practiced the whole day."
Canales would add that he is "very confident" Brooks will be in uniform for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
That outing, however, will not feature outside linebacker Pat Jones II—whose back injury kept him out for a second straight session.
Here is the team's full injury report from Thursday:
- OLB Pat Jones II (Back) | Wednesday: DNP | Thursday: DNP
- DL Bobby Brown III (Back) | Wednesday: Limited | Thursday: Full
- RB Jonathon Brooks (groin) | Wednesday: Limited | Thursday: Limited
