The Carolina Panthers seem ready to fill the void left behind by the latest blow to running back Jonathon Brooks.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the team is set to bring in Austin Ekeler for a visit on Wednesday. The 31-year rusher could help provide depth to Carolina's backfield in light of Brooks' groin injury, which will reportedly

send the 2024 second-round pick to the operating table.

Ekeler is coming off a major injury of his own, as he tore his Achilles tendon last season as a member of the Washington Commanders. Prior to the tear, which occurred in his second game of the campaign, he rushed for 43 yards on 14 carries and reeled in five receptions for 38 yards.

Before his recent two-year stint in Washington, Ekeler spent the

first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers. He led the league in touchdowns from scrimmage in 2021 and 2022—going for 20 and 18 scores, respectively.

Over 117 total games, Ekeler has amassed 4,355 rushing yards and 39 rushing touchdowns as well as 440 catches, 3,884 receiving yards and 30 touchdown receptions.
