Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has had better games statistically than he did in Sunday night's win over the Detroit Lions.
In Week 1, he dropped 361 yards and four total touchdowns on the Chicago Bears. In 2025, he set a new franchise record with 448 passing yards against the Atlanta Falcons. And in the 2024, he posted five total touchdowns on, you guessed it, the Falcons.
All that being said, his most recent outing represented a long-awaited break-through from Young—showcasing a new level of mastery while under the microscope of a nationally-televised contest. For the first time in his career, there never seemed any doubt, from his first pass attempt to his last, that he would carry the Panthers to a victory.
Young started out blazing
hot, completing his first 11 pass attempts—and continued to roast Detroit's pass defense all game. He finished 29-of-41 with 329 passing yards and two touchdowns—extremely strong numbers that don't even do his performance justice.
Most of those yards and both of those scores went to one guy, Carolina's top wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. McMillan caught an incredible 14 of 15 targets, including a 32-yard touchdown and an obscenely difficult toe-tapper late in the fourth quarter. In the end, he had 192 receiving yards, tying Muhsin Muhammad for the second-most in franchise history.
You can make a case that both Young and McMillan had the best games of their NFL careers, tonight.
Here's how fans and the rest of the league are reacting to the big outing from No. 9 and No. 4 . . .
This is probably the most ridiculous throw and catch of the year.
