The Carolina Panthers could be getting back some much-needed help for their backfield pretty soon.
Per Joe Person of The Athletic, running back Trevor Etienne expects to return to the active roster once his stint on injured reserve is up. The second-year rusher and returner was shelved prior to the start of the regular season due to a high-ankle sprain.

On Wednesday, second-string running back Jonathon Brooks was placed on injured reserve after it was decided that he'd undergo surgery for his groin issue. While a firm timeline for recovery was not set, head
coach Dave Canales did tell reporters that Brooks' absence could span anywhere from six to eight weeks.
With Brooks out, the Panthers are planning to use veteran AJ Dillon as the backup to starter Chuba Hubbard. Canales also confirmed that second-year back Anthony "Tre" Tyus III will be elevated from the practice squad for this Sunday's matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Etienne could, obviously, be of use to the depleted running back room. The earliest he can return is in Week 6, following the team's bye in Week 5.
