The Carolina Panthers' injured reserve will be getting at least one player lighter following their upcoming break.
Head coach Dave Canales, after last night's 32-26 win over the Detroit Lions, chatted with reporters on Monday. With the mandated four-week stay for those on IR just about up, Canales was asked if he's expecting any of their players to return from the shelf out of the Week 5 bye.
He made one assurance, stating that running back Trevor Etienne will be coming back "for sure."
Etienne has been sidelined with an ankle injury he sustained during the preseason. He was placed on injured reserve during the team's cutdown to their initial 53-man roster at the end of August.
The second-year rusher has also served as Carolina's primary returner,
having fielded 31 kickoffs and 20 punts as a rookie in 2025.
In addition to Etienne, the Panthers' backfield has been without 2024 second-round pick Jonathon Brooks. Brooks has missed the last two games due to a groin injury.
