The Carolina Panthers are still unsure about the Week 4 status of their top pass catcher.
Wideout Jalen Coker has been ruled questionable for this Sunday's matchup against the Detroit Lions. The third-year receiver, who is dealing with a quad injury, was listed a limited participant in practice for the last two days.
Head coach Dave Canales provided a bit of insight into how they'll move forward with Coker.
"We brought him out—just before practice started—put him through a whole individual period. He was able to get into the team periods for a little bit—hence the limited part," Canales told reporters after today's session.
"We're gonna have to see tomorrow. We have to gather more information about Jalen to see where that's headed."
Canales continued.
"We'd like to push it as far as possible," he added of Coker's outlook for the weekend. "And that was kinda the point of getting the kinda condensed work to move him around. We don't wanna overload him on any single day, but wanted to see if we could push him just a little bit more.
"So we'll move him around again tomorrow, and then see what it's like on game day."
Coker was ruled out in the third quarter of last week's 21-18 loss to the Cleveland Browns with the quad issue. He still enters this week with a team-leading 18 receptions, 222 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
If Coker cannot go, the Panthers—per Canales—are likely to elevate second-year receiver Ja'seem Reed from the practice squad.
