The Carolina Panthers will be without their $120 million man this week.
Outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's walkthrough due to a hamstring injury. After the session, head coach Dave Canales told reporters that he does not expect Phillips to play this Sunday versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"We gotta take care of that right now," Canales stated of Phillips, who leads the team with 18 pressures. "So, we're gonna still push it and evaluate him—but this is something we're gonna have to be smart with. Two weeks off of the first injury, and then he was able to finish the game—which was kind of incredible for him to be able to go out there and do his job.
"But the MRIs, the findings—this is something that
we're gonna have to treat more intensively."
Phillips first sustained his hamstring injury in the Week 4 win over the Detroit Lions—then, following a bye, re-aggravated it in this past weekend's victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. As Canales noted, Phillips was able to return to the contest.
