What is the story about?

Well, now we seem to know who's going to fill the spot left vacant by Tuesday's departure of rookie offensive tackle Albert Reese IV.

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the Carolina Panthers are planning to sign running back Anthony "Tre" Tyus III to their active roster. The 23-year-old is set to jump over from the practice squad in place of Reese, who was waived this afternoon.

Tyus broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2025, after splitting his collegiate career between Northwestern University (2021 to 2023) and Ohio University (2024). He would pick up stints with the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks before signing to Carolina's practice squad in October of that season.

The Panthers elevated Tyus for this past Sunday's 25-14

victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, where he recorded 13 of his 15 snaps on special teams. He also made appearances in the Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns and the Week 4 win over the Detroit Lions on kick return duties.
