Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is one of the most pleasant surprises around the NFL so far this season. After bombing in the first two games in each of his first three years in the league, Young has completely reversed that trend and has been one of the most productive passers thus far.
In Week 1, Young dropped 361 passing yards and four total touchdowns on the Chicago Bears, followed by 287 yards and three scores on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
And in the fantasy football world, that two-game run represents the first time in Young's career that he's scored at least 20 points in consecutive outings.
The fantasy community is starting to take notice, but Young is still only owned in 34 percent of leagues, according to Matt Okada at NFL.com.
So, Okada has Young ranked second overall, and first at the quarterback position, on his waiver wire list for Week 3:
On the one hand, Young typically goes off against the Falcons, like he did on Sunday. On the other hand, Young's 8.9 yards per attempt, 8.0% completion rate over expected, 113.3 passer rating and several other numbers through two weeks are elite, or borderline elite. If your starting QB is struggling or injured, Young might be the best available pickup and a viable starter until further notice.
So, how long can Young keep this hot streak going?
Next up on the schedule are the Cleveland Browns, who rank 16th in passing yards allowed per game and 11th in most fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. After that, it's the Detroit Lions—who have given up more fantasy points to quarterbacks than any other team.
Adjust your waiver-wire priorities appropriately.
