The Carolina Panthers' sidelined cornerback duo may be getting closer to returning.
Head coach Dave Canales spoke with reporters following this afternoon's practice, just ahead of their upcoming bout against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was asked about the progress of corners Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, who have been on injured reserve for the past few weeks.
"Jaycee is doing great," Canales stated. "The reports I get are that he's trending in the right direction—ahead of whatever general deadlines. He's crushing his rehab right now. He's itching to just keep taking the next step.
"Mike Jack, same thing. He's moving around, they're starting to pick up their speeds, the change-of-direction stuff. Those are all the things, with the nature of the injuries
that have to feel really good before you're able to open up. Obviously, we gotta go through the four games. And then, after that, you start thinking about opening up windows."
Both Horn (quad) and Jackson (groin) went down during the team's Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Initial reports suggested that Horn would be in danger of missing the remainder of the campaign while Jackson was expected back some time in November.
Carolina, in their places, have started rookie Will Lee III and special teams ace Akayleb Evans.
