The Carolina Panthers added a bit of depth for their offensive line on Wednesday.
As announced this afternoon, the team has signed rookie offensive lineman Da'Metrius Weatherspoon to their practice squad.
The Clariton, Penn. native split his five-year collegiate career between Howard Unviersity (2021 to 2023) and Syracuse university (2024 to 2025). He appeared in 37 games over that span, with 11 starts at right tackle and one at left guard.
Weatherspoon, 6-foot-6 and 319 pounds, first cracked into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills this past spring. He'd play in all three of the Bills' preseason outings during the summer, recording 37 snaps at left tackle and 30 at right tackle.
After being let go by Buffalo in the cutdown
to their initial 53-man roster, Weatherspoon would land on the New England Patriots' practice squad just two days later.
He now fills the void on the practice squad left behind by yesterday's release of cornerback Robert Rochell.
