On Sunday night, Carolina Panthers star Tetairoa McMillan came up just short of breaking Steve Smith Sr.'s franchise all-time mark for receiving yards in a regular-season game. Nevertheless, the second-year pass catcher still managed to etch his name into the team's record books.
McMillan has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the 32-26 win over the Detroit Lions. He is now the first Panthers wide receiver in the organization's 32-year history to be awarded the honor.
The prime-time Week 4 triumph saw McMillan reel in 14 catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns over 16 targets. That output was only nine yards shy of Smith's 201-yard receiving performance from 2005, which came in a 38-13 victory over the Minnesota
Vikings.
McMillan is now the second Panther this season to earn player of the week honors in the conference—joining inside linebacker Devin Lloyd, who won it on the defensive side for Week 2. He is also the first Panther to be named NFC Offensive Player of the Week since quarterback Bryce Young, who took it for Week 11 of the 2025 campaign after notching a franchise-record 448 passing yards.
