Maema Njongmeta is right back in the building.
As announced on Thursday, and first reported by ESPN's Mike Kaye on Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers have signed Njongmeta to their practice squad. The third-year linebacker was waived from the active roster on Tuesday, as the Panthers made room for offensive lineman Torricelli Simpkins III.
The Ngaoundéré, Cameroon native and University of Wisconsin product cracked into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2024. He'd appear in all 17 games, including a start, as a rookie.
Carolina would sign Njongmeta off Cincinnati's practice squad in September of 2025. He went on to play in 15 games for the Panthers, with 234 of his 239 snaps coming on special teams.
Njongmeta, in his
lone outing of the regular season thus far, forced a fumble on the second half's opening kickoff of the Panthers' Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
