The Carolina Panthers' 2024 draft class is looking weaker by the week.
As announced prior to kickoff of today's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders and cornerback Chau Smith-Wade are healthy scratches here in Week 2.
Sanders was also inactive for last Sunday's regular-season opener versus the Chicago Bears. With the 2024 fourth-rounder down, the Panthers will roll with four of the five tight ends on their active roster in Tommy Tremble, Mitchell Evans, Darren Waller and Feleipe Franks.
Smith-Wade, meanwhile, will be without a uniform for the first time in 2026. The 2024 fifth-rounder played 19 snaps on defense and 16 on special teams in Week 1.
In addition, starting outside linebacker Pat Jones II will be out—like he
was last week—due to a back injury. The Panthers elevated fellow outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon from the practice squad to provide some depth at the position.
