Now that the 2026-27 NBA preseason is over, the Oklahoma City Thunder are running some roster mechanism errands. They dropped a group of Exhibit-10 players on Friday. And it didn't take long to replace them with a new batch.
The Thunder announced on Friday that they have signed Dariq Whitehead, Nate Johnson and Lamar Wilkerson to Exhibit-10 contracts. Obviously, with the preseason over, these moves are solely to gain their respective G League rights. Expect all three to be part of the OKC Blue for the 2026-27 regular season.
Whitehead is the most notable of the bunch. He was a 2023 first-round draft pick. He's spent time in the NBA. As a buy-low candidate, the Blue added him to their roster this past season. The move paid off as the Memphis Grizzlies
signed him to a 10-day deal in Apr. 2026.
Johnson and Wilkerson are both undrafted rookies from the 2026 NBA draft. Johnson played at Kansas State and Wilkerson at Indiana this past collegiate season. If those names sound familiar, it's because both were part of OKC's 2026 Summer League roster.
Only five days remain until Opening Night. The Thunder will face the San Antonio Spurs. Expect plenty of wheeling-and-dealing over the next couple of days with the Exhibit-10 spots. That's one way NBA franchises typically add to their G League affiliate.
