To survive in the NBA, you need as much luck as talent. Dillon Jones has received plenty of that through his two years. The two-time NBA champion was at the end of the bench for the Oklahoma City Thunder and New York Knicks in the past two playoff runs.
Both the Thunder and Knicks brought home the Larry O'Brien trophies. OKC with a Game 7 win over the Indiana Pacers in the 2025 NBA Finals. New York with a gentleman's sweep of the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals. Because of that, Jones has gained a reputation as a good luck charm.
It looks like Jones' two championship rings have bought him a little more time in the NBA. He has reportedly signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin. He will be part of
their upcoming training camp. A couple of roster spots are up for grabs — one standard and one two-way.
If I had to guess, I think Jones is hoping to get the latter. The Thunder traded Jones to the Washington Wizards in June 2025. He didn't even make it to their 2025-26 season opener. As he was waived in Oct. 2025. After that, he dominated at the G League level. That eventually earned him a two-way deal with the Knicks in Jan. 2026.
From there, Jones enjoyed a front-row seat to New York's historic 16-3 postseason run. Because he's a two-way player, he was ineligible for the 2026 NBA playoffs. That said, you could always spot him on the TV broadcast. He hyped up his teammates amid their improbable run to one of the most dominant two-month stretches in league history.
Spending time with Team USA this summer, Jones will see if his championship pedigree can buy him a roster spot. The Sixers enter the 2026-27 season with championship aspirations. They had the busiest summer as they traded for Jaylen Brown and signed LeBron James. Now, Philadelphia will be must-watch TV on an every night basis.
The Thunder added Jones with the No. 26 pick of the 2024 NBA draft. His time in OKC was short at just one forgettable season. That said, he's made unique NBA history as one of the rare players who've won back-to-back rings at two different spots.
