It didn't take long to make their latest move official. The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Sunday that they have officially acquired Nique Clifford from the Sacramento Kings for two future second-round picks — a 2028 Utah pick and a 2030 Minnesota pick.
To make room for Clifford on OKC's 15-player standard roster, the Thunder have waived Dalen Terry. His time in OKC abruptly ends. He only appeared in two games in their blowout wins over the Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards in this recent back-to-back.
The Thunder's final standard roster spot has been quite a roller-coaster journey in recent weeks. First, Ochai Agbaji initially claimed the spot before they changed their mind about him the next day. Then, Terry was signed to it. He spent
training camp with the Golden State Warriors.
Now, Clifford gets the spot. I think he's here to stay for the long run. The Thunder get a chance to bring in another buy-low candidate. Only in his second season, he's on a rookie-scale four-year contract. He had fallen out of favor with the Kings. But OKC is taking a shot at him.
For Terry, he'll likely get to bounce around in the G League. Maybe he can sign with the OKC Blue. But his time on the Thunder was short-lived. Such is life for the last guy on an NBA bench.
