In a day that will be remembered as one of the darkest in NBA franchise history, Sam Presti will try to pick up the pieces in the aftermath. He is set to talk to the media on Monday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m. CT. Presumably, about Jalen Williams' status following a catastrophic leg injury.
With 1:14 to go in regulation in an eventual win over the LA Clippers on Sunday, Williams went for a driving layup. Kris Dunn bulldozed into him mid-air. That caused the All-NBA talent to land badly on his leg. His ankle snapped in the wrong direction. He needed to be put on a stretcher and carted off. The Thunder and OKC crowd were stunned into silence before offering emotional support.
We'll see what Williams' status is. He is listed as out for OKC's game against
the Phoenix Suns on Monday with a lower leg injury. Obviously, it looked devastating. Presti will likely provide an update on his status for the 2026-27 regular season and beyond.
As usual, Thunder Wire will provide updates throughout Presti's emergency press conference. If Williams is done for the year, that completely changes things up in terms of OKC's title odds and how the rest of the NBA reacts to such a significant injury.
