Before the Oklahoma City Thunder start their five-game 2026-27 NBA preseason slate, they've made some roster changes. They announced on Tuesday that they have waived Robert McCray V.
That's a little surprising. McCray V was one of their four Exhibit-10 deal additions. Usually, teams let them get some run during the preseason. But it looks like the Thunder have seen enough out of the undrafted rookie. At least out of NBA training camp.
McCray V played in four collegiate seasons from 2021-26. He spent his first year at Wake Forest, transferred to Jacksonville for two years and then played his final year at Florida State. With the Seminoles, he averaged 16.3 points on 45.8% shooting, 6.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds. He shot 35.5% from 3 on 4.2 attempts.
The 24-year-old is a 6-foot-4, 188-pound guard. Well, the good news is, they have his G League rights now. So he can be added to the OKC Blue this upcoming 2026-27 regular season.
The Thunder are set to play their preseason opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, Oct. 6. As mentioned earlier, they will play five games until Thursday, Oct. 15. After that, OKC is set to take part of Opening Night when it travels to face the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
