Everything aligned perfectly in the 2026-27 regular season schedule. The Chicago Bulls will honor Stacey King when the Oklahoma City Thunder pay their visit on Thursday, Feb. 4. The regular-season game is officially being dubbed 'Stacey King Celebration Night.'

King — who died on June 7 at 59 years old — is one of the more recognizable faces and voices in Bulls lore. The three-time NBA champion played his first five seasons in Chicago. He was the No. 6 pick of the 1989 NBA draft. He was a role player in their first three-peat with Michael Jordan.

After his playing career, King joined the Bulls broadcast for the last two decades from 2006-26. If you grew up a Bulls fan in that time span, you were surely familiar with his voice and personality.

He quickly became a fan favorite over the years and was regarded as one of the NBA's best commentators in his time on the headset and mic.

After King's death this past June, the Bulls are wasting little time to honor him. They will wear a band on the upper-left side with his last name and a microphone icon throughout the 2026-27 regular season. Considering his birthday was on Jan. 29, things worked out as Chicago's matchup with OKC is the nearest home game to the date.

Of course, King has a connection to Thunder fans, too. He was from Lawton, OK. He played in four collegiate seasons at Oklahoma from 1985-89. In that time, he averaged 17.6 points and 7.2 rebounds for the Sooners. He's widely regarded as one of the best players in the college program.

So nice to see the Thunder and Bulls both participate in his celebration night during the 2026-27 regular season. Even though he never suited up for OKC or had ties to the NBA organization, he had an affinity for it considering his home roots.
